Stone Sculptor
Environment and Self. I shall be giving a talk at the Hardwick Spring Talk series on 30th May 2024. More details here - https://mcalistairhood.artweb.com/the-hood-in-the-wood
But don’t just rush off there yet ; meander here in my gallery for a little.
All of the images below represent my journey to achieve technical competence as a stone sculptor. The works that represent me as an artist are being worked on right now, and should begin to appear soon.
What an amazing man you are Andrew - so much purity and authenticity. Your talk yesterday opened up my eyes to the world of sculpting which to be honest I was not very familiar with before…and I see the challenges you face! It’s fascinating the effort you go to to create your work- and I also know a lot about your lifestyle through Jono which has inspired me to not take the little things for granted. I will certainly share with people about your work and be on the lookout for the perfect peach!
Best wishes
Helen
Thank you so much Andrew. We both shed a tear she is so beautiful! Fully settled by the fire x Please come & visit us all soon xx
We went to the Englefield school day as a group of homeeducators - meeting Andrew and having a go with the chisel was so inspiring for my son Habib, that we got some slate for him, tools and now he is happily working on it. ... By the way, I found my lost mobile.
Habib: tell him, that I tried to make an eye, but the slate broke, now I am making a face. Pmp - practice ales perfect :)

Hi Andrew,All the work is looking great! Paul and I are so happy with the two pieces we have, they really make the rooms especially at this time of year. Looking forward to seeing what 2012 brings to your enterprise. All the best,Fiona
A fantastic, challenging commission, Wendy. After spending so much time and working so hard on them, I was sad to part with my horses in the end - but they do look good in their new home. My favourite commission to date - so thank you too Wendy.
Grazie, Grazie, Grazie. Mi piace, Mi piace, Mi piace.Andrew SE BRAVISSIMO.

I commissioned Andrew to do a calving, subject horses. A commission he performed beautifully and I am more than delighted with what he produced.
You are very welcome, Loraine - it was a great pleasure working for you and I loved the challenges that your vase gave me. Please let me know how it copes through the winter. I put a little plaster lid behind the gravestone just in case you ever think it needs covering - hard frosts and the like. Pop by whenever you like. If I am flush I’ll treat you to coffee and cake!!!
Andrew
